"The inspiration for this painting came from a week in Canyon de Chelly
on the Navajo Reservation, painting with the Taos Art School.
At the end of a great week of painting and riding horseback with our
Navajo guides, there was a heavy thunderstorm, and at sundown,
fearful lest all of us be washed away in a flash flood, it was decided
we needed to get out of the canyon, quick. Four other gutsy women,
and I rode out with the Navajo horsemen and their herd of horses.
It was a terrific, fast paced ride I will never forget."
